A Christmas to Remember

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time when someone you love is no longer here. Each December, we invite Canterbury families to come together, remember those they’ve lost, and find comfort in the company of others who understand.

When someone dies, the need to remember doesn’t end with the funeral.

Christmas, anniversaries, and other special occasions can make their absence feel especially strong. Coming together can bring comfort, connection, and reassurance that you don’t have to carry those feelings alone.

Come with family, friends, or whānau. Or come on your own.

You’ll be warmly welcomed.

A Time to Gather

What to Expect

Each December, we hold candle-lighting gatherings at our Lamb & Hayward venues across Canterbury, creating time and space to pause, share memories, and remember together.

You’re welcome to:

  • Light a candle in memory of someone special.
  • Write a personal message on an angel card.
  • Place your card on our remembrance tree.
  • Share a quiet moment of reflection.
  • Be alongside others who understand.

Some people sit quietly. Others bring family and friends. Many return each year as part of their own remembrance tradition.
