âLet us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.â â 1 John 3:18 It is with profound sadness that I pay tribute to our dear friend, Bruce Andrew Hansen, whom my family and I had the privilege of knowing since 1998. Bruce was a man of sincere faith, remarkable kindness, and wholehearted generosity. He was always ready to help, and his concern for others was evident not only in his words, but also in the practical and thoughtful ways he served them. One memory I will always treasure dates back to 2002, when my family and I moved from Berry Street to Momorangi Crescent in Christchurch. Bruce arrived with a trailer and generously helped us move. That simple yet meaningful act of kindness meant a great deal to me, and I will never forget it. Another cherished memory is from 2005, when Bruce invited my family and me to his home for a barbecue. To my surprise, he had arranged a special gathering to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was an extraordinarily thoughtful and generous gestureâone that reflected the warmth and character of the man he was. Although I hold many memories of Bruce, these two will always have a special place in my heart. Bruce truly embodied this call to love through action and truth. His life of faith, service, and compassion touched many people, and I remain deeply grateful that my family and I were among those blessed by his friendship. As we mourn his passing, we also hold fast to the promise of Jesus: âI am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.â (John 11:25). We also draw comfort from the assurance that âthe Lord is close to the brokenhearted.â (Psalm 34:18). My heartfelt condolences go to Bruceâs family (Alison, the children and grandchildren). May God surround each of you with His peace, comfort, and strength in the days ahead. Bruce will be deeply missed, but his faith, kindness, and the lasting difference he made in so many lives will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Bruce. Thank you for your treasured friendship, your faithful ministry, and the kindness you gave so freely.Osei Amoafo and Family
Dear Alison and Family, Please accept our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Bruce. The Very Rev. (QSO) Bruce Hansen was a much-loved and highly respected friend of our church family at St Paulâs Trinity Pacific Presbyterian Church. He gave so much of himself to the Pacific community and to our church. Following the devastating earthquake in 2011 and the tragic loss of Rev. Lapana, Bruce stood alongside us during some very difficult years. He supported us through the arrival of our new Minister and the building of our new church and hall. His contribution and commitment will never be forgotten. For me personally, Bruce was a very good friend to me and my family. He was a wise man, a good counsellor, and someone whose guidance I greatly valued. I will always be grateful for his friendship and the wisdom he shared with me. I shall always treasure his request to read Luke Chapter 18 vs 9-14 in Samoan at his funeral service. That passage sums up his character. Bruce touched many lives, and his legacy of faith, service and kindness will live on in the people and communities he served. Alison, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God give you strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time. âWell done, good and faithful servant.â â Matthew 25:23 With our deepest sympathy, love and prayers, Alofaaga from Malo, Anne, Jamie & Emma IoaneMalo Ioane

Bruce was true gentleman. His good humour, kindness and thoughtfulness were unsurpassed. After 35 years, I will miss my annual 'Happy Wedding Anniversary' phone call, chats in passing at the gym and dicussions about his passion for cricket.John and Stephanie Olliver
