Obituary

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, passed away peacefully in Christchurch, surrounded by family. Dearly loved wife of the late Bricky. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Colleen and David, and Brendon and Vix. Treasured Nana of Kate, Nick and Jenna, Jess, Molly, and Lachie. Loved sister of Bev (Brisbane) and cherished aunty to all her nieces and nephews. Heartfelt thanks to the staff from Summerset Avonhead Memory Care Centre and Summerset Wigram Care Centre for their loving and compassionate care of Judy.

Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Judy Friel, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. The funeral service for Judy will be held in St Paul’s Anglican Church, 844 Old Tai Tapu Road, Tai Tapu, on Friday, October 9 at 2.00pm, followed by private cremation.

Dear Friels - in particular Colleen Sorry to hear of dear Mrs Friels passing. I grew up visiting her kitchen, in awe of her baking as Colleen's childhood friend. Many fond memories of her growing up. She was always up for a cup of tea and chat and was a big supporter of our hockey team. Wishing you all blessings as you navigate her departure. I'm sure she will her faith has carried her well.
