Obituary

Kirsty passed away on May 19, 2026, after a long and brave battle, surrounded by her loving family, aged 49 years. Dearly loved wife of Jonathan, devoted mother of Mark, and Emma. Loved daughter of Joan, and John Macdonald, cherished sister and sister-in-law of Sharyn and Graeme Robb, and Kim and Julian Gormack, loved daughter-in-law of Adrianne and the late Jeff Cox.
Loved sister-in-law of Nicholas Cox and Sarah Dobson, treasured aunty of Liam, and Barrett; Andreas, and Ollie; and Bradley.
While our hearts are broken, we take solace in having shared a life full of happiness, laughter, and love.
Thank you to everyone for reaching out, visiting, and giving support over the past weeks and months. The love and care shown by so many brought a smile to Kirsty’s face and only proved what she meant to us all.

Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Kirsty Cox, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bowel Cancer would be appreciated and may be made online at:  donate.bowelcancernz.org.nz.
A service to celebrate Kirsty’s life will be held at Oaklands, corner Halswell Junction and Wigram Roads, Halswell, on Thursday, May 28, at 10.30am.
At Kirsty’s request, she wanted everyone to wear nice bright colours.

Guestbook

  1. Dear Kirsty and Family, I am sending a message to let you know that I am here to support you and your family. My prayers are with you. When anyone within our skating community, friends and family face a challenge, we all feel the pain. Trust me, I have been through my own health issues so give you 100% of my support. I wish I was there to be with you but of course, I am almost half way around the world. Be strong my friends! Kirsty, you were a blessing to me when I moved to New Zealand in 1997. Even today, I cherish your enthusiasm for ice skating and you made me feel welcome in a foreign country not only as your coach but as your friend. I send hugs, Kevin Poit
