On Friday, February 20, 2026, peacefully, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle. Beloved and adored Mum of Connie and David, cherished mother-in-law of George, beloved and treasured Ma of Katelin and Summer, dearly loved wife and friend of Barry, loved sister of Lee, Julia and Lyn, loved aunt of Levi, Kim and Lauren, colleague and friend to many.  Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Kate Smart, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated, and may be made online at cancer.org.nz .
