Obituary

Passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, aged 77 years. Loved soulmate of Pauline Dobby, stepfather of Emma, and the late Daniel, and loved grandfather of Emilee, Jordus, and Melody. Loved son of Archibald and Hazel, and loved by all his brothers and sisters. Will be missed by the Harness Racing fraternity. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Ned Black, c/- P.O. Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. A celebration of Ned’s life will be held at Wai-mana, 92 Kippenberger Avenue, Rangiora, on Thursday, September 10, at 2.30pm.

It was always nice to hear Tony talking to you on the phone. I moved out of the room, cos Tony can find it hard to just 'have a chat' / 'chew the fat'....he's always been a bit of a loner. But I think you knew this. But jeez, once you two got started on horse talk, well, the gates opened haha! We were planning to visit near Christmas. I'm sad that we never got this chance to see you again. Be at peace. We all follow.
