On  April 16, 2023, peacefully at Christchurch Hospital.  Beloved and loving mother and mother-in-law of Christopher and Maria, Nicholas and Susannah, Matthew and Amy, Alexandra (Dais) and Rory, much loved grandmother of Penny, Michael, and Victoria; Ben, Oliver, and Rose; Jimmy, Tilly, and Fred; Hugo, Hector, and Gussie. Loved daughter of the late Neil and Esma, sister and life-long friend of the late Margaret, and former wife of John. Many thanks to the staff at Holly Lea for their care of Barbara.  Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Barbara O’Brien, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra would be appreciated and may be made online at cso.co.nz. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held in our Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Thursday, April 20 at 2:00pm. Private cremation thereafter.
