Born in Wellington on June 18, 1940, Carol was the only child of Richard Stanley Barrett and Patricia Mary Barrett. Beloved wife of Campbell Wakelin for 67 years, their marriage was one of deep and enduring love. As a wife and mother, she gave us everything and filled our hearts – the most beautiful wife and the most beautiful mother. Much loved Mum of Darren, Sheryl, and Sharon, and their partners. Loved Grandma and Great-Grandma of family across New Zealand and Australia. Carol passed peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by family. A private cremation has been held, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
