On December 13, 2021, passed peacefully at Christchurch Hospital surrounded by her loving family, aged 92 years.

Dearly loved wife of the late Ted, treasured mother and mother-in-law of Helen and David, Geoff and Mary-Jane, Raelene and Andrew, Carol and Phil, David and Linda, and  Joanne and Pete, loved Nana of Gemma, Thomas; Cameron, Holly; Kathryn, Matthew, Anna; Jordon, Austin; Rachel, and  Andrew. Cherished Great Nana of Rico, Levi, Asher; June, Theodore; Zoey, Emmy; and Poppy, a special friend to Melissa, and a caring friend to so many. Special thanks to the staff at Somerfield House Rest Home for their loving care of Shirley. Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Shirley Brain, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John Ambulance  would be appreciated, and may be made online at stjohn.org.nz.  A private family service will be held on Friday, December 17,  at 2.00pm. All family and friends are warmly invited to Raelene and Andrew’s home for a ‘Shirley Shout’ from 5.00pm Friday.
