I was so very sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. I knew him for many years through my work at BAUS and he became a good friend. It was always such a pleasure seeing him at conferences and catching up. I’ll always be grateful to him for his company and calmness during the Christchurch earthquake. It was a delight to meet Margaret later in our friendship and to spend time with them both. Ted was a true gentleman and he will be much missed by a great many.

Dear Arnolds Sending love to you all. I feel fortunate to have viewed and shared in Ted’s funeral remotely. Thank you. So many delightful funny loving tributes. I feel so extremely lucky to have known Ted (through Richard and all you wonderful off spring - thank you very much🙏❤️). When I think of Ted I think of warmth. And gentleness. I loved his slightly bemused, always smilely, quiet and sincere interest in whatever you were up to. In my memory - as teenagers/early 20s we’d be all over Puriri st - eating chocolate / dancing / playing games / chat chatting. He had this way, where he’d show interest, have a little chat and then leave us to carry on. Never disapproving - the opposite in fact - giving us an acceptance and encouragement to be ourselves, just as we were. He will be sorely missed. Loving condolences to all the family on Ted's passing. We were classmates and colleagues with a common interest in smooth muscle- in different organs,though! But our deeper bond was our faith and trust in Christ, and we both have tried to express that in our care for patients, involvement in the community, working on social issues (on occasion, together) and the exitement of scientific investigation. I am so grateful to have known him and Margaret, and value great memories! David Troughton.
