We wanted to update you on the changes to Lamb & Hayward’s Memorial Service at Ōtukaikino “The Living Memorial”.
This service was traditionally held in February each year.
This year marks a change, whereby we will no longer hold the usual Memorial Service.
We are now planning to hold a Memorial Day where we take a more hands on and holistic approach at the site of The Living Memorial. There will be times available for you to attend a formal dedication of the trees, and an opportunity for those who wish to be involved with planting and site tours.
Given the need to manage numbers, we do require those wishing to attend to RSVP by Friday 18th September at letusknow@lambandhayward.co.nz
Lamb & Hayward established the Living Memorial at Ōtukaikino in 1992, in partnership with The Department of Conservation. The 13 hectare site is being restored as a native wetland and a planting is established for every funeral service conducted by Lamb & Hayward.
Ōtukaikino provides a unique space for remembrance and an opportunity to connect to the memory of someone we love via a tangible planting; the Angel Rock will continue to be the final resting place for the Angels from the Christmas to Remember services held in December.
