On Sunday, April 16, 2023, aged 95 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Shirley Dickson, for 64 years.  Loved and respected father and father-in-law of Lynne and Rex, Sandra and Dave, and Gary and Iris. Special Grandad of Hamish, Campbell, Jeanette and Cameron; and Jessica and Jeff.  Much loved older brother of the three girls, Beatrice, Elizabeth (UK), and Valda and Michael Somers (Melbourne). Loved by his extended family and friends.  Our grateful thanks and appreciation go to the Care Centre staff at Summerset at Avonhead for looking after Elgar so well over the last year. Many thanks to the Orthopaedic Ward staff at Christchurch Public Hospital for their expert care and compassion during Elgar’s last days. The Funeral Service for Elgar will be held in our Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside on Friday, April 21, at 2:00pm, followed by  burial at Yaldhurst Cemetery.
